Hailing from Chicago, Illinois, Alex Beltran has been called “a saxophonist of impeccable musicianship” by the Chicago Jazz Magazine. He is a sought after multi-instrumentalist, composer and teacher. Alex received his Bachelor degree from Indiana University and his Master Degree from DePaul University where he studied with David Baker, Jim Snidero, Mark Colby and many others. In 2008, Alex made Chicago his home and quickly became an active member of the local and regional music scenes. Alex’s quintet, Merge, has released two albums of original modern jazz that have received praise from musicians and critics alike. Dan Healy of Chicago Jazz Magazine says Delays is “both challenging and accessible, this is one of the best new releases of the year”.
